Christopher Webster [Celluloid 07.23.13] post apocalyptic horror action thriller adventure

Good news, PA fans! Jeff Renfroe's The Colony will debut on Ultra-VOD on Aug. 22, 2013 and in-theaters on Sept. 20, 2013 in Los Angeles, New York and major U.S. markets. So watch for it!

Laurence Fishburne, Bill Paxton and Kevin Zegers headline an all-star cast in this savage and unrelenting thriller about mankind's greatest enemy: himself.

THE COLONY opens as an endless winter engulfs Earth. Humans struggle to survive in remote underground outposts. When Colony seven receives a distress call from a nearby settlement, Sam (Zegers) and Briggs (Fishburne) race through the snow on a dangerous rescue mission. What they find at the desolate base could mean mankind’s salvation—or its total annihilation. Terrifying discoveries will unfold that will change the rules of survival forever.

The Colony was written by Patrick Tarr, Pascal Trottier and Svet Rouskov.

THE COLONY was produced by Paul Barkin, Matthew Cervi, Pierre Even and Marie-Claude Poulin and executive produced by Peter Graham, Marc Schaberg, Noah Segal and Mark Slone.

Side note: If you haven't see Renfroe's first film, One Point O, you should.

I think this is a good movie, realistic, good actors, good atmosphere, a sort of futuristic thriller. This is an example of how you can make a good movie without spending too much money, but having the right ideas in the head!

Pretty disappointed with The Colony myself. Interesting (if derivative) premise that started off well enough but the third act was terrible.

Oh, and I can cut a PA film a lot of slack but something I can't tolerate is when one of the hardened survivors has sparkling pearly whites and a face that looked like it jumped off the pages of a M.A.C. catalogue.

One of the first things I put in my Doomsday Backpack are my toiletries. Any self respecting Survivalist knows how important looking good after the Apocalypse is. I plan on looking as good as I do now.
Looking forward to seeing, as like you anything P.A. I'm a sucker. I think I even liked "Hell Comes to Frogtown".
