From Andy Davis, the man behind the post apocalyptic zombie film 2 (trailer) which we were promised a screener for but never received.. (ahem!) comes a freaky looking tale of a deaf girl dropped in the middle of nowhere, and a twisted carnival of fun. According to the filmmakers, they want "people to be uncomfortable, squirming in the seats."
ADELLE stars Madeline McNulty in the title role of a young deaf girl who is abandoned in the middle of nowhere by her parents in the 1930s. Her subsequent struggle to survive becomes a nightmarish odyssey populated by an assortment of strange characters.

Is it just me, or is it getting a little tiring with these poorly recorded audio tracks and digital video? Ya know you can do diffusion with video also. They need to be churning out better DPs in film school.

while the comparison has been made already, I have a hard time with the Alice in Wonderland thing. It doesn't give 'Adele' enough credit. Yes, similarities exist, but what I find so creepy & intriguing about this film so far is not just the vivid feast of trip & gore for the eyes, but also this theory of abandonment, a mute girl who is at a loss, and just left to fend for herself in such a bizarre environment.

i like the trailer and will be interested to see the film. sure, there are films out there with similar themes to ALICE (Pan's Labyrinth) but that doesn't mean they can't be great (Pan's Labyrinth)! plus, this one seems to have a different twist...

wow guys, thanks very much for the kind words and the not so kind words. Adelle was made always hoping that the people who liked it, loved it and vice versa. Let me just say that Alice in Wonderland is not as much of an inspiration as a film like Tideland or The Reflecting Skin was. Anyhow, thanks very much for the story, and the comments, both good and bad and keep them coming, I'd really love to hear what you have to say about our film.

Looks low budge, but I'm intrigued. Tideland and Reflecting Skin are both great films, so....

As a huge fan of Carnivale (so prematurely murdered by HBO) this reminds me of that show with a few more ingredients from Alice in Wonderland and Tommy. Looks interesting.
